A few weeks ago, Guy Van den Branden towed the start of the Marathon Des Sables with a backpack full of Innerme products that gave him what he needed daily to successfully complete each stage. Read his entire experience here!
"The MDS is all about kcal vs. weight. A backpack easily weighs 10 kg and that is the maximum. I have been using Innerme for several years, so it was clear from the start that I would definitely take these products with me. After personal advice from Innerme and the results of the climate chamber test, I put together the following plan.
While walking, at each checkpoint I filled a 750ml bottle of water with a 40 gr bag of Isotonic energy drink (good for 145kcal per bag). This usually amounted to 6 bottles per day. I found the iso energy drink to be a real thirst quencher in the heat, and I am convinced that the papaya/sea salt certainly played an important role in replenishing my minerals and salts. Furthermore, I ate one energy gel and one energy bar per day while running.
“What struck me most was that I didn't get any stomach problems, even after 6 days of drinking isotonic energy drinks."
Upon arrival, I first rested for half an hour, took off my running shoes, put my feet up and then ate an Innerme protein bar together with a Miso soup, which really cheered me up! I chose the bars over the protein mix because the bars contain more kcal in addition to the powder. What struck me most was that I didn't get any stomach problems, even after 6 days of drinking isotonic energy drinks.
I was super satisfied with the Innerme products! I found the 40g Isotonic Drink bags very useful, which meant I didn't have to weigh anything or pack things separately. The volume/packaging of the other products is also good and compact. Every day I had everything with me in the front bag so I didn't have to open the backpack on the way."
Congratulations Guy on your great performance!
